This series investigates the transformation of paint that first peels away from its traditional support, then is pierced, stitched, or bound with nails, wire, or thread. The act symbolises a complex tension between fragility and resilience, identity and adaptability, vulnerability and control.

They embody the experience of uprooting—the forceful act of breaking away from one’s origins while striving to insert oneself into a new culture, language, and set of customs. The metal’s intrusion into the paint mirrors this tension: both a disruption and a binding, symbolising the challenge of forging new connections and asserting identity in unfamiliar territory.

As the paint detaches and reattaches, the work reflects the fragile balance that shapes a composite identity—an embodiment of the third culture individual, formed through the fusion of multiple influences, navigating between past and transformation, loss and renewal.
