liquid painting: embracing objecthood
These works consist solely of acrylic paint with no traditional support such as canvas, wood, or paper. The paint itself has been formed, dried, and exists as an independent surface — a painting without a backing structure.
The photographs show both the front and back of the piece, emphasizing its objecthood and material presence, even though the work is not conceived as having two sides but as a single, unified object. It moves beyond the flat surface of traditional painting to enter the realm of three-dimensionality, bringing the materiality of paint to the forefront as the very substance that shapes the piece.
In this sense, the work exists between painting and sculpture, surface and structure. It questions where a painting begins and ends — and what remains when the support is removed.
